Overview

About this trek

The Langtang valley is the nearest of Nepal’s great treks to Kathmandu, yet it feels a world apart: a glacier-carved corridor of forest, yak pasture and Tamang villages running up to the foot of Langtang Lirung. The valley was hit hard in 2015, and trekking here directly supports its remarkable recovery — a journey with real meaning as well as real beauty.

With no flights required and a moderate top altitude, it’s an accessible week-long trek that still delivers proper high-Himalayan scenery, including an optional dawn climb of Kyanjin Ri.

Trek highlights

  • Glacier views beneath Langtang Lirung
  • Optional dawn climb of Kyanjin Ri
  • Local cheese factory at Kyanjin Gompa
  • Tamang culture and warm hospitality
  • No flights — easy drive from Kathmandu
  • Your trek supports the valley’s recovery
